LA was a leader in lead generation (LowerMyBills), comparison shopping (PriceGrabber, Shopzilla), social networking (MySpace … I know, I know – Facebook won – but it was still a big business). If But ultimately we’re on the Internet to communicate, buy stuff, become informed and be entertained. All Communications is being changed by people Los Angeles. We looked around for literally eight to ten months, by having a couple of young people bring us companies, research papers on potential industries, and other information every day. We're brought experts from the field--Colleen Sabatino is our Chief Content Officer, and is one of the more respected career center executives in America, and Travlin McCormick came from Slingshot Labs to be our CTO, and is used to speed and has taken various types of businesses and fed them to MySpace--but I've never considered the industry an issue. Los Angeles-based MySpace has released an upgrade to the firm's set of application programming interfaces, saying this morning that it has released an upgrade to MySpaceID, the firm's API for allowing other websites to access its information. According to MySpace, the upgrade includes new access to the activity stream of MySpace users, integration of OAuth and OpenID for authentication of users, and new developer resources to help developers create and manage applications. Los Angeles-based MySpace launched its MySpace Music service last night, the firm's joint venture with EMI Music, SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony ATV/ Music Publishing. Los Angeles-based MySpace confirmed Wednesday that it has purchased Seattle-basd iLike , a venture funded firm providing a way for users to share playlists and information on music. No additional information about the buy was announced by the company, nor was any further detail on a rumored $20M price tag provided by the company. Los Angeles-based social networking site MySpace , in a bid to connect with the "real-time" web, said early this morning at the LeWeb conference that it has launched a new, real-time API. According to MySpace COO Mike Jones, the firm is enhancing its MySpace Developer Platform to allow partners to access the firm's real-time data, including status updates, music, video, and photos. Los Angeles-based MySpace has linked its social networking site into Microsoft Outlook, the firm said this week. According to Mike Jones, co-president of MySpace, the new Outlook plug-in allows users of Microsoft Outlook to view their MySpace user activity and contact information. Los Angeles-based MySpace and West Hollywood-based CitySearch announced this morning that the two have launched a beta of a new local search site, MySpace Local, which will allow users to review, rate, and share information about small businesses.
