Yesterday she was chosen out of 5 finalist candidates as the winner of the annual “ MySpace Citizen Journalist ” competition. She’ll get to travel next week to the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland as a special correspondent for MySpace , The Wall Street Journal and the World Economic Forum . As a part of the Davos press corps she will be using the MySpace platform to report on conference news and interview Even though Sloane Berrent has moved out of Los Angeles and relocated to New Orleans, we still consider her one of us.

Los Angeles-based social networking site MySpace , The Wall Street Journal, and the World Economic Forum today said that the firms are in a contest to send a "citizen journalist" to the Davos World Economic Forum. According to the firms, the "citizen journalist" will join the Davos press corp, and report on conference news and interview world leaders for MySpace and The Wall Street Journal. Winner of the contest will be selected from users who upload a video to MySpace, naming one global and one local issue that the user has been involved in, and what they've learned from those issues; what country caught the user's attention most this year and why, detailing the issues faced by citizens; and what "pressing global issue" has been underreported, and how they would draw attention to that issue.

Los Angeles-based social networking web site said late Thursday that it has kicked off a competition to send a MySpace user to the Davos World Economic Forum. The site said the effort--run in partnership with the Wall Street Journal--will allow the user to join the Davos press corps and report on news and interview world leaders at the forum for MySpace users. Fox Interactive Media has reportedly laid off a number of staffers, and is restructing its MySpace unit, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. Details were sketchy, however, MySpace told a number of publications that it is actively hiring and expects to have more employees at the end of the fiscal year than it currently has, despite the restructuring.

think usually it is easier to try and buy something like MySpace for example, which at least at the time that News Corp bought it was the preeminent social networking site.

We live in the age of YouTube and MySpace and Facebook and Twitter and what’s really changed is we all have a public image. Well, yesterday we went to lunch with two of the entertainment reporters from the Wall Street Journal. They're on, at the time, MySpace or YouTube and now Facebook. We also do quite a bit of lead gen there, so we do things like, if people are interested in going to a modeling school, or if they’re interested in broadcast journalism, etc., When my friend Wil Schroter builds web sites, he's more concerned with attracting revenue than eyeballs. When we get together in person, I like talking to him about how he builds revenue-generating sites like goBIGnetwork.com , because he's so methodical about it.
