San Diego-based La Jolla Pharmaceuticals , the failed biopharmaceuticals firm which was previously developing treating lupus renal disease, reported today that it has received notification from the Nasdaq that it will be delisted from the market as of Thursday. La Jolla wound down its operations last year, after the failure of its Phase 3 trials and layoff of almost all of its staff.

Calabasas-based Ixia , a developer of network testing tools and software, is reporting this morning that it has implemented a "cost reduction initiative" and cut 80 positions from the firm, in what it said was primarily an elimination of duplicate resources from the company's October acquisition of Agilent's N2X product line. Ixia said the cuts should be complete by June 30th, and that it will take a charge of $3 to $4M for severance and other related costs.

San Diego- and Los Angeles-based online video site Veoh is reportedly in the midst of a "major restructuring," according to a report from VentureBeat . Quoting a "source close to the company" VentureBeat said that the layoffs would be "drastic." Layoffs at personal finance software maker Intuit are set to hit a number of the firm's Southern California locations. The layoffs date are split between August 3rd and August 17th, according to the WARN filings. WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) is a California law which requires certain companies to report when they are planning mass layoffs at least 60 days in advance.

Beverly Hills-based online entertainment site Break.com has reportedly laid off 11 staffers, according to a report by CNET. Break.com's CEO Keith Richman, which focuses its efforts on providing videos, games, and other entertainment for men, told CNET that the firm is planning to hire the same number of people in the future, with different skill sets. Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro , an electronics distributor, has reportedly laid off about 8 percent of the firm's North American workforce, or 300 employees, according to a report from ChannelWeb. ChannelWeb quoted an executive at Ingram, who said that the layoff occurred Tuesday, with as many as 150 cuts in the firm's Orange County offices. Fox Interactive Media has reportedly laid off a number of staffers, and is restructing its MySpace unit, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The WSJ reports that News Corp's Fox Interactive Media division laid off about 5 percent of its work force, or about 100 people.
