Cyclist Lance Armstrong will be providing updates to his bike race at the upcoming Giro D'Italia race this weekend on Livestrong.com, as U.S. The Lance Armstrong Foundation and Demand Media, which is headed by former MySpace Chairman and Intermix CEO Richard Rosenblatt, inked a deal back in January of 2008 for Demand to create and run LiveStrong.com. television broadcasters are declining to cover the event broadly this weekend. Los Angeles-based Demand Media 's LIVESTRONG.com web site, the online health and fitness information web site run in conjunction with Lance Armstrong, said this week that it has rolled out a new 'Calorie Tracker' aplication for the RIM BlackBerry. Demand Media is run by Richard Rosenblatt, who was the chairman of MySpace. Demand and The new application--developed by Los Angeles-based wireless development firm REGARD SOlutions--allows users to track how much they eat and exercise each day. The new app is being sold on RIM's new application marketplace, Appworld.

Santa Monica-based Demand Media has released traffic statistics for its LIVESTRONG.COM web site, its joint venture with cyclist Lance Armstrong, saying that the site now has more than 4 million monthly visits and over 650,000 registered members. The new section of LIVESTRONG.COM will be called "On Tour With Lance" and provide photos, videos, and blogs following Armstrong through his training efforts and cancer awareness campaign. The site, which launched in June, is focused on health, fitness, and related information. Demand Media also said that more than 4,300 groups have formed

The firm said that Stewart will build a sales team to increase sales revenue of Demand's eHow, Trails.com, Cracked, Livestrong.com, and other web sites. Demand Media is a very well funded, an online media publisher headed by former MySpace chairman Richard Rosenblatt. Santa Monica-based Demand Media has hired a new executive to head up the firm's advertising sales, the firm disclosed Tuesday. Demand Media has appointed George Stewart as the company's Executive Vice President of Advertising Sales, heading up sales for all of the company's sales channels.
