Los Angeles-based Sometrics has teamed up with IGG , an online gaming site, to offer advertiser offers and surveys to gamers on IGG;s games, the firms said this morning. Sometrics is venture backed by Steamboat Ventures, Greycroft Partners, AT&T, and The Mail Room Fund. The firms said that Sometrics will offer advertiser-sponsored opportunities for IGG gamers, in exchange for points redeemable within those games. Financial details of the deal between Sometrics and IGG were not disclosed.

Los Angeles-based Sometrics is jumping into the virtual goods marketplace, saying today that it has launched a new site called GameCoins.com , which it says will serve as a marketplace for virtual goods. Sometrics is headed by Ian Swanson, and venture backed by Steamboat Ventures, Greycroft Partners, AT&T, and The Mail Room Fund. Sometrics said the new site will allow gamers a place to both interact with other gamers, as well as earn virtual goods and currency from advertisers. Los Angeles-based Sometrics , the virtual currency startup headed by Ian Swanson, released some user and traffic numbers this morning, saying that it has now provided more than 1 trillion virtual currency credits to game users. Sometrics is venture backed by Steamboat Ventures, Greycroft Partners, AT&T, and The Mail Room Fund. The firm also said it has connected its to more than 100 million game user accounts. Burbank-based Steamboat Ventures , the venture capital firm backed by Walt Disney Co., According to Beijing-based Yoyi Media , it received a Series A investment on undisclosed size from Steamboat Ventures and Gobi Partners. Steamboat has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong in addition to Los Angeles.

Los Angeles-based Passenger , an operator of online communities for brands, said Wednesday that it has named Michael Winner as the firm's Senior Vice President of Technology. The company said that Winner will split his time btween Palo Alto and Los Angeles. Passenger is venture backed by Shelter Capital Partners, StarVest Partners and Steamboat Ventures. Los Angeles-based content delivery network firm EdgeCast Networks , announced today that the firm is now profitable. EdgeCast is venture backed by Steamboat Ventures and other investors. The firm said it became profitable in Q3, and has been EBITDA positive since Q2. The privately held company said it has been growing its revenues by more than 10 percent per month this year, and more than 30 percent per month since its launch in August 2007.
