My friend Mark Long recently asked me about networking in Los Angeles. Rather than write something just for Mark, I thought I would let everybody else know what the good, tech-oriented networking events are in Los Angeles. Digital Family Reunion – DFR is a descendant of the VIC (Venice Interactive Community), LA’s first Internet networking group. Mark is a CTO, see, and his company, PortBlue , was recently acquired (congrats, Mark!). After transitioning to the new team, Mark was left to wonder, what now?
I'm happy to announce the launch of the Los Angeles Tech Content Community . The goal is to create a place where it's relatively easy to find current content and highly relevant content surrounding Los Angeles Technology. To be clear Los Angeles Tech is a jump off point. This is the beginning of a content community that collects and organizes the best content from blogs and web sites. The content comes from other places.
Turns out American photographer Ansel Adams spent a little time in Los Angeles during the start of World War II. In fact they show a very interesting side of Los Angeles during this age. Venture capital firm Prism VentureWorks has shut its offices in Los Angeles, according to a report Friday by peHUB. According to the report, the firm's Venice offices were shut to save money on overhead for the firm, with partner Gordie Nye continuing to work here out of his home office. Los Angeles-based wireless software publisher Mobile-XL reported Thursday that it is partnering with Venice-based mobile video messaging firm Mogreet . According to Mobile-XL, both companies have committed resources toward developing a mobile messaging platform.
