The second event late February '10 was "Going Goo Goo over Google Analytics" and was held at Mahalo's office in Santa Monica. I've signed up, attended two LA events (see my write-up in the Networking Event Organizations section ), and meet more than a few interesting people. Send me your new, updated, or reviews of networking events and organizations. The Notable & Where I'm going... Tell them you heard about it from Todd's blog! I'll be speaking (yes, yours truly) on “Effective Networking for Entrepreneurs” at the GroundUP Business Group 's Tuesday, March 9th 7-8:30pm, at Zephyr Coffee House, 2419 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107 .

As if writing a tech blog makes these guys some type of Nostradamus. Mahalo is sold for 50-70 million, a respectable exit although much lower than Jason’s original goal of a 30 gazillion dollar sale.
However in 2009 he has taken Mahalo to huge traffic numbers and even some revenue. One silly year end tradition tech blogs love to do is those damn prediction posts. In any case, turns out even I did one last year for lalawag , how cliché.

Calacanis claims that writers of its how to articles are now making between $10 and $2000 a year, depending on traffic to those articles. Mahalo now has about 3,000 how to articles on the site.

This could also be done by leveraging a partnership (or buyout) of a site like Mahalo .
• Local Leverage a worldwide community to enable a perfect market for outsourcing activities like online research, writing, & content review.
• MySpace’s I wouldn’t bet against MySpace . They attract over 70 million people a month (just in the US), and by most accounts are still one of the 10 most popular sites in the world.

Mark helped launch 4 startups, including SuperSig, which was a disaster and Mahalo , a rising star.
Today he’s working on his latest startup as the CTO of Mahalo. feel like our generation of web startups was improved by the bubble’s burst the way the World War II generation was fortified by their reaction to the Great Depression.
“Being broken in half allowed me to write”
I asked Mark Jeffrey for an interview because I knew he’d be open with me about the periods in entrepreneurship when things fall apart and you feel like there’s no way out.

Rather than write something just for Mark, I thought I would let everybody else know what the good, tech-oriented networking events are in Los Angeles.
LA Hadoop Meetup – My good friend Mark Jeffrey’s company, Mahalo , typically hosts these events. My friend Mark Long recently asked me about networking in Los Angeles. Mark is a CTO, see, and his company, PortBlue , was recently acquired (congrats, Mark!).
