But, we were able to into a huge event that we partnered with Lifetime and MySpace on, and we got 50,000 girls to try out in less than a week, with hundreds of thousands of people online as voters and fans, and we had millions of impressions surrounding the event. We also have one individual angel involved, Paige Craig, who we came in touch via Mike Jones, who is really excited about media properties out there and people from interesting backgrounds trying to basically do what we're doing. Alec Shankman is CEO of Santa Monica-based Gotcast (www.gotcast.com), an online site focused on casting of actors for television shows, movies, and other productions.

Social Media Super Powers:
MySpace Co-Founder Tom Anderson is probably the most well known social founder behind a site. His status at MySpace is so legendary it has just about made him a household name.
MySpace : 269,000,000 Friends ( link ) It’s interesting (to me at least) the vast audiences that tech founders are able to assemble. Through their own products and others, they manage to build massive communities that in many cases, hang on their every word tweet.

Santa Monica-based Demand Media , the new media venture of former MySpace chairman Richard Rosenblatt, said today that it has just published its one millionth piece of original content, and is launching an effort to extend health care benefits to freelancers creating that content for the firm. According to Demand Media, it now has more than 6,000 freelancers creating content for the company's network of sites via its Demand Studios arm. The firm claims that it is now one of the largest producers of content on the Web, distributing that to an audience of more than 80 million people.

Tweeters use active voice verbs far more often than Facebook or MySpace.) One of the first things you notice about twitter is what a positive, happy place it is. In fact, Tweeters are 51% more likely to show love than the world at large.

Los Angeles-based social networking site MySpace said Wednesday afternoon that the firm has launched a new offering which will allow users to link to the site while watching TV. Fox Interactive Media has reportedly laid off a number of staffers, and is restructing its MySpace unit, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The WSJ reports that News Corp's Fox Interactive Media division laid off about 5 percent of its work force, or about 100 people. Flektor, the online web slideshow and photo and video sharing site owned by Fox Interactive Media, appears to have completely disappeared as of this morning. The service's web site now goes directly to the MySpace home page. Flektor had been acquired by Fox Interactive Media in May of 2007.
A source close to the firm said that the service was being completely shut down today, including the servers, videos, polls, and more.

Los Angeles-based social networking site MySpace , and Katalyst Media, the content production firm co-founded by Ashton Kutcher, said Thursday that MySpace will promote and syndicate the second season of Katalyst's "Blah Girls" title. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Blah Girls is an animated comedy based on popular culture and a trio of gossipping teens.
