Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal announced Friday that it has acquired SMB:LIVE , a developer of digital presence and reputation management products for the small and medium sized business market. ReachLocal said it will use the acquisition to enable SMBs to publish multimedia content to business profile pages on its site, as well as social media and other Internet sites. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The firm said that SMB:Live's former Chairman and CEO, Alex Hawkinson, will be General Manager of its new digitla presence unit.

Woodland Hills-based United Online reported its fourth quarter and full year 2009 results Wednesday afternoon, saying that its communications segment--which includes its dial-up ISP business--had a revenue drop of 19 percent in Q4 compared with Q4 of 2008, dropping to $48.4M United Online's Classmates Media revenues were $60.6M from the prior year's $60.1M. The firm's overall revenues totaled $249.5M

Woodland Hills-based United Online reported its quarterly results Tuesday, saying that the firm had revenues of $263.6M The results were bolstered by strong performance at its Classmates Media business, which increased 13% year over year. The increase in services revenue at Classmates Media--up 22% year to year--more than offset a slight decline in advertising revenues in that segment. for the quarter. However, the firm continued to see a decline in its dialup business, which was down 18% year-to-year, and also reported a 23% drop in business at floral business FTD

Given the number of social media marketers and experts in Los Angeles, looks like they’ve got a new customer to pitch: FTD , the floral delivery business of Woodland Hills-based United Online . United Online bought FTD last year, and just got reamed on TechCrunch for their Mother’s day performance and not using Twitter to address those issues. New customer, anyone?

Woodland Hills-based United Online disclosed on its quarterly earnings call late Wednesday that it is cutting 96 employees, as part of a move to increase efficiency and streamline operations at the firm. According to the firm, 71 of the employees are being cut from Classmates Media Segment, which includes Classmates.com, with the remaining 25 from its Communications Segment, which includes its dialup service. The cuts are equal to five percent of the firm's overall workforce. The firm said the reduction in force is part of a restructuring plan for the two areas.

Taragan has previously served at Nielsen Media Research, and Wisk at Tivo, Herbalife, and Noki Taragan to President of the firm's Communications segment, and named Matthew J. Woodland Hills-based FatTail , a developer of software for managing online advertising for web publishers, announced today that it has launched a new, self-serve display ad selling system called PageGage Direct. According to FatTail, the new software allows advertisers to book ads, including banners, rich media, video, and mobile ads, on publisher web sites.
