Torrance-based Active Storage , a venture backed developer of storage products for the Apple market, announced a new, 32TB RAID product this morning. According to Active Storage, the new 3U product is specifically targeted at media production and Apple professionals, and includes an iPhone monitoring app and native Mac OS X storage management software. Torrance-based Active Storage , a venture-backed developer of RAID products for Apple computers, said this week that it has released an upgraded iPhone application, which allows its customers to monitor its products directly from their phone. The firm said that the ability to monitor its products from the iPhone--which is not widely available from other storage manufacturers--has been a bit hit with its customers. Among updates to the software are better connectivity and support options in the case of component failures in the firm's storage devices. The firm is backed

Nirvanix said CommVault customers can select the firm's Storage Delivery Network (SDN) product via a drop-down selection within the Simpana software. Nirvanix is backed by Intel Capital, Valhalla Partners, Mission Ventures, Windward Ventures, and the European Founders Fund. San Diego-based cloud storage firm Nirvanix is further bolstering its focus on enterprise customers, saying today that it has partnered with enterprise storage software provider CommVault. San Diego-based ID Analytics , a provider of software used for detecting identity fraud and risk, disclosed today that the firm has added a new family of products focused on tapping information not found in typical public records or credit bureaus. According to the firm, its new ID Network Attributes products use information such as names, addresses, dates of birth, reported identity fraud, and other information to detect possible identity theft. La Jolla-based Ortiva Wireless , a developer of products for managing mobile video streaming, said this morning that it has signed on Mobix Interactive as a customer. Mobix deploys its services on O2, 3, and Vodacom; according to the firms, Mobix will incorporate Ortiva's technology into its products, to improve quality of service of its platform. Ortiva's products adapt video streams depending on wireless Financial impact of the customer win was not disclosed. Mobix Interactive is a provider of video-on-demand and TV services.

La Jolla-based Ortiva Wireless, a provider of products for managing and optimizing mobile video streams, has snagged Vodafone Portugal as a customer, the firm said today. Ortiva said that Vodafone Portugal will deploy its mobile Video Optimization Gateway product. Ortiva's products are used by telecommunications carriers to adapt video content to mobile phone capabilities and connection quality. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed, however, Ortiva said that Vodafone is the firm's first European customer. Ortiva is backed by Artiman Ventures, Avalon Ventures, Comcast Interactive

San Diego-based Transaction Wireless , a developer of mobile gift card and other mobile marketing products, announced this morning that it has raised an additional $2M in funding. The funding came from its existing investors, Mission Ventures and Okapi Ventures. Transaction Wireless develops a stored value, gift card platform which allows users to purchase products using their mobile The company said the new funds will go towards ongoing technology and customer deployment and sales and marketing. The firm's customers include AMC Theatres and Bass Pro Shops.

The firm said its founders were responsible for Apple's Active STorage XRAID products. The company--which was founded by former executives at Apple, Inc.--said Amount of the funding was not disclosed.

Los Angeles-based Big Stage Entertainment , which develops avatar creation technology for turning photos into animated, 3-D likenesses, said Wednesday that the firm has launched a new effort targeted training content creators on the firm's products. BigStage said its new online effort--Big Stage Studio--is aimed at production studios, advertising, marketing agencies, and others. The firm said it will teach content partners how to use 3D graphics and animation tools to learn steps to mask and motion track facial images in stills and video, so that they can be used with the firm's 3D avatars.
