According to ExteNet, Palomar, an existing investor in the firm, was part of a new round of equity financing led by SSP Offshore LLC, an affiliate of Soros Fund Management and SBA Communications Corporation, which also included Centennial Ventures, Columbia Capital, Sevin Rosen Funds, and CenterPoint Ventures. Los Angeles-based Palomar Ventures is in a new funding with Soros Fund Management, in a deal worth $128.4M to Illinois wireless firm ExteNet Systems .

According to FMC, it will pay $120M for Direct Drive Systems, which makes components used for pumping natural gas pipelines, offshore platforms, and for the subsea processing market. Cerritos-based Direct Drive Systems , a developer of high speed motors for the oil and gas industry, has been acquired by Houston-based FMC Technologies, FMC said earlier this week. Direct Drive is a spinout of Calnetix.

According to the firm, it has created G1MobileSoft, an offshore development company devoted solely to creating mobhile applications. Murano Software maintains four offshore development centers in Russia. Agoura Hills-based Murano Software, a provider of outsourced software development, is branching out into Google Android application development. The firm said it will create both iPhone and Android applications for its clients.

VanceInfo is an IT services provider providing offshore software development in China. San Diego-based Wireless Info Tech Ltd., a provider of mobile testing and application development services for the wireless industry, has been acquired by a Chinese firm. According to VanceInfo Technologies, it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Wireless Info Tech, in a deal worth $1.08M in cash plus stock.

TAKE is also buying EntComm's offshore operations, which will merge with Take Solutions' center in Chennai.

Teledyne said that Baton Rouge-based Odom has designs and manufactures equipment for port survey, dredging, offshore energy and other applications. Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne Technologies said today that it has acquired Odom Hydrographic Systems, a Louisiana-based firm developing hydrographic survey instrumentation. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
