The group announced today that it has named the incoming Presidents of its area networks, with Steve Flaim in San Diego, John Glanville and Jeff Kurfess in Santa Barbara, Stu Roberts in Orange County, Scott Sangster in Los Angeles, and John Tillquist in the Inland Empire. The Tech Coast Angels is stressing its mixer program, seed investment efforts, and a new website, as it kicks off a 2010 program, according to the angel investing group. I spent time with the founder of the San Diego Band of Angels yesterday. The fledgling angel group would soon join forces with the Tech Coast Angels who were expanding from their Orange County and Los Angeles footholds. Today TCA has 5 networks from Santa Barbara to San Diego.

Canada, and Mexico, shows Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego areas are all within the top 10 "preeminent high-tech metros" ranked by high tech employment and wages. According to the firm's report, "North America's High-Tech Economy: The Geography of Knowledge-Based Industries," the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Glendale metro area is now ranked number five, San Dieg-Carlsbad-San Marcos is ranked number 7, and Santa Ana-Anaheim-Irvine is ranked number 8 on the list of top high-tech metros in North America. Taking a closer look at the numbers, LA led the region with $385.65M in deals, but Orange County also had a strong showing with $186M in deals. San Diego slipped somewhat in the amount of capital invested during the quarter, to $178.4M. Interestingly enough, San Diego — which led Q2 investments — slipped significantly in deal amounts this quarter.

Air travelers going to and from Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego during the holidays are benefiting from a promotion today announced by Google and Virgin America . According to Google, it is partnering with Virgin America to provider free WiFi access on every Virgin America flight between November 10th and January 15th, including all fights out of Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, along with other cities. No reason for the free access promotion was given, however Google said it hopes the effort will make it easier for people to connect with family and friends while in the air.

Los Angeles-based Loudvine.com , a new, Web 2.0-style, online community site focused on music fans, said today that it is now live in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orange County, and San Diego. The online site allows music fans to find bands, gigs, venues, and other information about local artists; the site also helps artists to promote their bands and events.

finds that the Los Angeles-Riverside-Orange County metro is number two on the list of geographies with the most clean-tech job activity. In the report--which evaluated current and historical job postings, early stage and public market investment activity, clean tech patents, and other factors--The LA-Riverside-OC Metro ranked just behind San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, nationwide, in clean tech jobs. San Diego ranked A report released this week from analyst firm Clean Edge, Inc., The ranking came in Clean Edge's annual Clean Tech Jobs Trends 2009 report.

The dealers include locations nationwide, and include dealers in San Diego, Pasadena, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, and Orange County. Irvine-based Fisker Automotive , a startup hybrid electric automobile manufacturer which is venture funded by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Palo Alto Investors and the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), said Tuesday that it has signed up a network of dealers to carry the firm's automobiles. The firm said it hopes to have 40 locations across the country by the end of June to carry its $87,900 Karma sedan.
