Los Angeles-based Rubicon Project , the online ad optimization firm headed by Frank Addante , announced this morning that it has hired investment banker Allen & Company . According to Rubicon, Allen & Company will work with the company to "exploring options for ongoing business growth initiatives" including strategic acquisitions, platform expanson, and continued international growth. The firm said along with the announcement that it will be adding ad serving, forecasting, and other functionality to its system in 2010, and that it is taking an aim at current provider of ad server technology.

According to the firm, it served up more than 350 billion ads through its platform this year. Rubicon Project's online advertising service helps publishers pick the best yielding ads from online The firm did not disclose any financial, but said it now has 150 employees. The firm is backed by $42M in funding from Clearstone Ventures, Mayfield, IDG Venturs, and the GE/NBC Universal Peacock

Los Angeles-based The Rubicon Project , which operates a service to optimize the selection of ads on web sites, said today that it has debuted a new technology platform is it calling REVV for Publishers. The new software expands Rubicon's product from optimizing remnant ad network impressions, and into the domain of managing direct and in-house advertising. The firm said that the REVV product--targeted at premium Web publishers--now gives publishers control of non-guaranteed inventory, ability to manage sales rights by geography and other parameters, as well as continuing to optimize network ads, among other new features.

Los Angeles-based Rubicon Project announced Wednesday that the firm has opened up an office in Sydney, Australia, as part of an expansion in the Asia Pacific region.
