The firm said the new offering will be available in eight markets, starting in New York, New Jersey, Houston, Dallas/Plano, San Diego, Bakersfield, Sonoma County, and Hawaii, at selected theaters run by Reading Cinemas. Los Angeles-based Fandango , which operates an online movie ticketing service, announced today that it has rolled out a mobile phone ticketing option. The firm, which is a unit of Comcast Interactive, said its mobile ticket program allows users to use their mobile phones to get into movies.

San Diego-based Fallbrook Technologies , a developer of continuous variable planetary transmissions being applied to the electric vehicle and other markets, is tapping a Chinese manufacturer for its products, the company said today. Fallbrook said it is using Tri-Star Group to manufacturer its Nuvici continuously variable planetary (CVP) transmission, beginning in Q2 2010. Business arrangements behind the manufacturing agreement were not announced.

Kyocera Solar , a manufacturer of solar modules, said today that it is planning to begin manufacturing solar modules in San Diego, to serve the U.S. Kyocera already maintains its North American businesses from San Diego. Kyocera said that the manufacturing will begin in the first half of 2010 from its Balboa Avenue facility, with production targeted at large-scale solar electric generating systems.

San Diego-based ID Analytics , a provider of software used for detecting identity fraud and risk, disclosed today that the firm has added a new family of products focused on tapping information not found in typical public records or credit bureaus. According to the firm, its new ID Network Attributes products use information such as names, addresses, dates of birth, reported identity fraud, and other information to detect possible identity theft. San Diego-based Novatel Wireless said Tuesday that the firm has rolled out a version of the firm's mobile hotspot hardware, which works with North American carriers. The new MiFi 2372 HSPA products supports HSPA, UMTS, EDGE and GPRS networks.
The firm's hardware--which rolled out in Europe in June--allows cellular subscribers to create their own, mini WiFi hotspots with up to five connections. READ MORE>>

San Diego-based Ortiva Wireless , a developer of products for managing mobile video, said today today that it has enhanced the firm's Video Optimization Gateway product to support H.264 QVGA. Ortiva's products adapt video streams based on mobile network conditions.

San Diego-based Novatel Wireless , a developer of wireless broadband data cards, announced three new products today. The new products are targeted at connecting laptops with high speed, cellular data networks. Novatel's new products include the E970D, for HSPA networks in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia; the E960D for HSPA networks in North America; and the Ovation MC995D USB Modem, designed for use in Europe.
