The newsletter blast came after high visibility coverage in the last couple of months from TechCrunch and VentureBeat, speculating that the firm had been "mothballed" by AOL.

Michael bootstrapped userplane and sold it to AOL, then went on to found Tsavo . The other thing that I really want to push a lot of people on, that I think gets lost in the fray sometimes, is making sure that you’re really driving towards the core single value of your product. think part of that comes from a discovery process of launching products and iterating and changing. Michael Jones and Jason Hirschhorn have just been appointed COO and Chief Product Officer, respectively, over at MySpace. Most of the folks in Los Angeles will know Michael well, from his days bootstrapping Userplane (sold to AOL), as well as his recent efforts with both Tsavo , as well as his efforts (along with Peter Pham and others) to get the technology elite networking here. Jason was most recently at Sling Media , and prior to that was Chief Digital Officer at MTV Networks .
btw, I checked in with Mike Jones about what’s going to happen over at Tsavo Media;

One of the recent trends in the technology industry here in Los Angeles is the use of "coworking" spaces--flexible workspaces where companies can rent open office space.
