Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal announced Friday that it has acquired SMB:LIVE , a developer of digital presence and reputation management products for the small and medium sized business market. ReachLocal said it will use the acquisition to enable SMBs to publish multimedia content to business profile pages on its site, as well as social media and other Internet sites. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The firm said that SMB:Live's former Chairman and CEO, Alex Hawkinson, will be General Manager of its new digitla presence unit.

Accoriding to ReachLocal, it had net income of $11.6M ReachLocal is backed by such firms as VantagePoint Venture Partners, Rho Ventures, and Galleon Group. The firm's IPO is being underwritten by J.P. Morgan, BofA Merrill Lynch, citi, Piper Jaffray, Needham & Company, and Broadpoint.Gleacher.

Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal has launched a new, online marketplace for local advertising, saying Monday that it has created a new "ReachLocal Xchange" platform which will allow websites to tap into local advertisers. According to ReachLocal, the new technology platform is targeted at both major and "long tail" Internet publishers, who want to tap into local online ads. The new program--similar to Google's AdSense program--links ReachLocal's ads into publisher web sites directly, rather than through Google or Yahoo's online ad networks. ReachLocal

Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal announced Wednesday that the firm has expanded into Canada, and opened up a new sales office in Toronto for its online marketing services. ReachLocal helps businesses place pay-per-click and other ads through Google, Yahoo, MSN, and others. The venture-backed firm, which helps small and medium sized businesses place Internet advertising, said that its first Canadian location will cater to local businesses in the Greater Toronto area. Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal , which operates an online marketing service targeted at local businesses, is announcing today that it has purchase the remaining interest in the firm's Australian joint venture partner, Netus Pty Ltd.
