My last business, Atlanta based Distinction Software, was sold to Peoplesoft for 6 times revenue. Peoplesoft was really only interested in the software modules. If we have additional funds or resources, these should be directed towards increasing our strategic value rather than generating higher levels of revenue and profits for ourselves, especially if this has little or negative impact on our exit value.

Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software said today that it has released new software aimed at the storage resource management market. The new product is the firm's first product addressing the storage resource management (SRM) market. The SRM product comes from Quest's acquisition of storage software provider MonoSphere in January of this year. According to Quest, the firm's new product, Storage Horizon, measures storage usage, helps with provisioning, and provides automated storage analysis and reporting. Brea-based IMS Company , a manufacturer of in-flight portable entertainment players and related products, said Friday that it has acquired Flight Deck Resources, a provider of hardware for flight deck management on airplanes. According to IMS, Flight Deck Resources will become a new division, which will be known as IMS Flight Deck. The new division Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. The products are sold to commercial airlines, corporate aviation, air cargo, general aviation and aircraft fleet operators.

Santa Monica-based Cornerstone OnDemand , a developer of software for talent and human resources management, announced today that it has rolled out a new version of its product targeted at the mid-size business market. Cornerstone OnDemand's software-as-a-service is used by companies to manage things like employee compliance, learning, compensation, and performance. The firm said the new version is focused on meeting the needs of small- and mid-sized businesses with up to 1,500 employees. Pricing on the new software was not disclosed.

Santa Monica-based Cornertone OnDemand, a provider of software-as-a-service tools for human resources management, said this week that it has added new social networking features to the firm's product. The new product connects into Cornerstone's existing talent management software. According to Cornerstone, it has introduced a new product called Cornerstone Connect, which will provide workforce collaboration to its customers.
