San Diego-based Anametrix , a new business analytics software firm headed by Blaise Barrelet, founder of WebSideStory, announced this morning that it has acquired Nordic Research Corporation , a business analytics technology firm. Anametrix said that the founder of Nordic Research, Anders Olsson, joins the company as Chief Technical Officer.

San Diego-based DivX announced today that it has released a new, updated version of its video player software for the Windows platform. According to DivX, its DivX Plus Software, which is available for free, has been "completely redesigned," and now supports DivX Plus HD video, easier transfer of videos to DivX Certified devices, an enhanced Codec pack for Windows Media Player, HD support in web browsers, as well as a new video converter application supporting 1080p HD content. The software is free and available on the DivX web site.

Tapestry Solutions, a San Diego-based provider of services and software for tracking equipment and spare parts for the U.S. Tapestry Solutions has 350 employees, with the majority located in San Diego, and approximately 150 deployed worldwide, including in Ira Department of Defense, has been acquired by The Boeing Company, Boeing said late last week. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Sorenson Media , a developer of video compression and encoding software, said today that the firm has opened up a new, San Diego office which will serve as the firm's "central hub" for its business operations. San Diego Gas & Electric is one of the first utilities to sign up with Google and its new Google PowerMeter energy monitoring project, Google said this morning. The partnership will allow San Diego Gas & Electric customers with smart meters to access that smart meter information via Google and its PowerMeter widget software. San Diego-based Arkeia Software , a developer of backup and disaster recovery software, said Monday that the firm has inked a sales, marketing, and technology partnership with Falconstor. Falconstor is a provider of data backup, mirroring, virtualization, and other data storage software. According to the firms, the deal covers use of Falconstor's Virtual Arkeia's backup software is used by system administrators to back up their network. Falconstor's VTL appliance provides disk-based emulation of tape systems.

San Diego-based Illumina announced a new software product today, GenomeStudio, which the firm says can be used to analyze data from genetic research efforts. According to Illumina, the firm's new software allows researchers to analyze microarray and sequencing data from DNA analysis efforts. San Diego-based OpenCandy , which is developing products to help software publisher increase downloads and sales of their products, said Thursday that it has signed up PDF software firm PrimoPDF as a customer. According to OpenCandy, PrimoPDF is using the firm to help users discover other compelling applications when their software is being installed. San Diego-based Kyriba Corporation, a venture-backed provider of software-as-a-service used for treasury cash management, said this morning that the firm has rolled out an enhancement to its offerings. Accordng to the firm, its software now connects to SWIFT, which is a financial messaging network used by banks to exchange secure messages. Kyriba's Kyriba said the connection into SWIFT comes via a partnership with BRED Banque. The firm is venture backed by American Express, BIH, BRED Banque Populaire, Coface, GRP Partners, and Mangrove Capital Partners.

San Diego-based Arkeia Software announced today that it has acquired Kadena Systems , a developer of data deduplication technology. The firm said the addition of the technology will provide source-side, data deduplication for its software, which will accelerate backup and reduce network congestion.
