Four Southern California firms are headed to Palm Springs for the DEMO launch conference next week, according to a list of the presenters released Friday. According to DEMO, Thousand Oaks-based Invested.In , Santa Barbara-based Phone Halo , San Diego-based Tastr , and Los Angeles-based Immitter will all be presenting at the technology launch conference. DEMO has traditionally been a major launch event for startups and new technology products.

The latest comScore Media Metrix ranking of top growing Internet properties shows that, among Southern California's Internet companies, Gorilla Nation , ProFlowers , and eHarmony saw big gains in their Internet traffic in February. Gorilla Nation is based in Santa Monica; eHarmony is based in Pasadena; and Proflowers is based in San Diego.

A quick analysis by socalTECH of our tracking of venture capital deals in Southern California finds that there was around $879M in venture funding activity here in Q3. San Diego led investment activity in Q3, with a large number of the biggest VC deals all located in the area. Intellikine in La Jolla and Zogenix in San Diego both raised $51M in deals; San Diego's NextWave Wireless raised The information--gleaned from funding announcements, regulatory filings, and other sources--are not far off from socalTECH's totals from last quarter, which totaled up around $932M in investment activity.
