San Diego- and Los Angeles-based video sharing site veoh Networks has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, according to web site Mashable. Dmitry Shapiro, CEO of Veoh, did not respond to emails requesting comment, the PR firm listed on the firm's site said it no longer represents the company, and socalTECH was unable to reach anyone via phone at the company. Veoh had raised over $67.5M in funding from such firms as Goldman Sachs, Intel Capital, Shelter Capital Partners, Spark Capital, The Tornante Company, and Time Warner. READ MORE>>

Los Angeles- and San Diego-based video sharing site Veoh is claiming a major win today over Universal Music group, saying that a federal judge has thrown out a copyright infringement lawsuit against the firm. Veoh said that a federal court awarded a summary judgement in the copyright lawsuit, finding that Veoh's copyright process is compliant with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Veoh had been sued over user videos using music from the label in September of 2007. Veoh is backed by Shelter Capital, Spark Capital, Michael Eisner's Tornante Company,

San Diego- and Los Angeles-based online video site Veoh is reportedly in the midst of a "major restructuring," according to a report from VentureBeat . An email to Dmitry Shapiro, CEO of Veoh, this morning, asking for comments on the rumor was not returned. Veoh laid off 20 percent of its employees in November. Quoting a "source close to the company" VentureBeat said that the layoffs would be "drastic." Los Angeles- and San Diego-based Veoh Networks, a provider of Internet video sharing services, said today that it has entered into a partnership with Axel Springer Digital TV Guide GmbH. According to Veoh, Axel Springer is in a strategic international partnership with the firjm, specifically in Germany. Veoh is venture backed by Shelter Capital Partners, Spark Capital, The deal includes both Axel Springer Media Impact, an advertising sales division of Axel Springer, as well as links to Axel Springer's electronic program guides and a service called "My Personal TV DIGITAL."

San Diego- and Los Angeles- based video sharing site Veoh Networks is looking to have users continually view and find videos on the site in their web browser, saying today that it has rolled out a new web browser add-on. The firm said the new product, called the Veoh Video Compass , will instantly recommend online videos depending on what page a users is searching or browsing. Veoh said that the addon--which is available for Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 7--will pull content form Veoh's site, along with partners like CBS, Viacom, and WB, depending on the context of what a user is viewing or searching for at the time in their browser.
