Still trying to figure out whether Twiistup 5 will be worth going to? Rest assured, the Twiistup folks picked a great lineup . The party’s taking place in a private hangar in Santa Monica while “private aircraft[s] take off and land.” Yes, anyone who’s anyone in tech will be going — just check out some of the judges — but are you wondering whether the ten Showoffs spots will make it worth attending on Feb. 12?
I’ve just joined the judging panel of Twiistup 5 , which is being held February 12th. Twiistup is an event where local startups get to “show their stuff” in a very, non-conference like setting — this time, a private hanger in Santa Monica. The Los Angeles technology crowd turned out in full for last week's Twiistup 5 event--a showcase for startups looking for exposure and funding--with over 1,000 attendees at a private aircraft hangar at the Santa Monica airport. The winner of the judge's choice award was Cogi , a Santa Barbara-based firm which develops a service for transcribing conference calls and meetings; TotSpot , which operates a social networking site that allows families to create private sites for their children, was awarded "Fan Favorite" for the most votes from the crowd. Cogi was co-founded by Robert Dolan, former co-founder and CEO of Callwave; Mark Cromack, co-founder of CrystalVoice Communications; and Palmer Jackson, who also was at Callwave.
