Audiolife's software allows artists to sell downloads, ringtones, CDs, and other merchandise from their web sites, blogs, or social networking sites. Van Nuys-based Audiolife , a firm that develops tools and technology to sell merchandise to music fans, announced today that it has raised $1M in a bridge round of funding. The firm said the round came as a single-tranche note, convertible to preferred shares.

You can't read, view or listen to any news media channel (Web mostly of course because mainstream old news media pretty much discounts Web 2.0 but I digress) without seeing articles/blogs relating to social networking, VC "overheated fundings ", communities of millions run by kids at Starbucks, and "how many people follow me on Twitter when I say I am going to bathroom." Web 2.0 and vice versa...just just like viewers ignore Katie Couric ...

Carlsbad-based Breach Security , a developer of Internet security software, has released the results of a security report, saying that nineteen percent of all online attacks in 2009 so far have been based on social networking sites. According to the company's Web Hacking Incidents Database (WHID) 2009 Bi-Annual Report, hackers are taking advantage of user generated content, Twitter, and other Web 2.0 web sites to launch their hacking attempts. The firm said it found that 19% of security incidents between January 1st and July 31st were targeted at social networking

My friend Mark Long recently asked me about networking in Los Angeles. This past couple years, I have been doing a ton of networking. Rather than write something just for Mark, I thought I would let everybody else know what the good, tech-oriented networking events are in Los Angeles.
For the tech-oriented networker, there is one primary thing to Mark is a CTO, see, and his company, PortBlue , was recently acquired (congrats, Mark!). After transitioning to the new team, Mark was left to wonder, what now?
