This is a private group of CTOs who are responsible for software development within their companies. They are generally the senior most person responsible for custom software development, database design, database administration, web development, etc. In a recent conversation with a fellow CTO, we lamented about the fact that while there's very active software development and web development going on in Southern California and West Los Angeles, yet there didn't seem to be as much of a community around it. I've helped organize the Los Angeles CTO Forum for almost 10 years.

And we have been looking to hire several positions (but are being really picky as is normally the case). I’ll be curious to see if that bears up at our Los Angeles CTO Forum meeting tomorrow. Anyone also have the sense (or even better some actual statistics) that suggest

There is one thing I learned a long time about about setting goals, “you manage what you measure” so you need to begin by regularly recording your weight.
My favorite new software tool is DailyBurn . Under So I signed up for the online version of Weight Watchers. It Bill Gates once famously said that people tend to overestimate the impact of technology in the 1-year timeframe and underestimate its impact in the 10-year timeframe. That’s That’s always stuck with me.

I was recently talking with the CEO of a high tech startup here, and he asked me — why did I bother covering Southern California companies? Why care about Southern California as a place for high tech?
The reason socalTECH started (it used to be a side hobby I did as a software engineer, and has become it’s own business) was because of the misconception years ago that Southern California did not Why not go big and focus on all startups, only cutting edge Web 2.0 startups/etc.,
