Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal has launched a new, online marketplace for local advertising, saying Monday that it has created a new "ReachLocal Xchange" platform which will allow websites to tap into local advertisers. The new program--similar to Google's AdSense program--links ReachLocal's ads into publisher web sites directly, rather than through Google or Yahoo's online ad networks. Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal said late Tuesday that it has expanded into the United Kingdom, and opened up a new office in London. ReachLocal's paid search ads are placed in Google, Yahoo!, ReachLocal, which provides services that help local businesses buy search engine advertising, said it has launched ReachLocal UK Ltd., which will offer its local online marketing solutions to small and medium-sized businesses in the UK.
Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal announced Wednesday that the firm has expanded into Canada, and opened up a new sales office in Toronto for its online marketing services. ReachLocal helps businesses place pay-per-click and other ads through Google, Yahoo, MSN, and others. The venture-backed firm, which helps small and medium sized businesses place Internet advertising, said that its first Canadian location will cater to local businesses in the Greater Toronto area. The new office will be headed by Alyn Glazerman.

ReachLocal helps local businesses--who otherwise would not have the knowledge or time--to place ads on online ad programs such as Google's AdWords and Yahoo. Woodland Hills-based FatTail, a developer of online advertising management software, announced this morning that it has raised $3M in a Serie A financing round led by Velocity Interactive Group. According to FatTail, Ted Meisel, former CEO of Overture and president of Yahoo! Velocity Interactive Group is the venture firm headed by former AOL CEO Jonathan F. Miller and former Fox Interactive Media's Ross Levinsohn.

This morning, Woodland Hills-based FatTail (www.fattail.com) announced a venture round from Velocity Interactive Group for its software for managing online advertising. We've also got other people coming in as well, people I really respect, like Ted Meisel, who came out of Yahoo and is an investor and advisor. How While My Yahoo or My MSN got there first with tools to allow people to personalize Ross Levinsohn is a board member at FatTail and a venture capitalist at Velocity Interactive (www.velocityig.com), and headed up Fox Interactive Media's buy of MySpace.
