Yahoo said Monday that it is dropping its outsource most of Yahoo Shopping, its comparison shopping to Los Angeles-based PriceGrabber , the firm told its developers Monday. Yahoo Shopping is a comparison shopping site which displays products and prices for different products, including consumer electronics, computer, and related items.

Internet portal Yahoo is quietly shutting Geocities , the Internet home page portal it acquired in 1999. San Diego-based DivX said Thursday that it has filed a lawsuit against Yahoo! for breach of contract, after Yahoo notified the firm that it intends to breach its two-year advertising services agreement with DivX. The last chapter for Internet homepage Geocities has been written, with Yahoo telling its last remaining users of the service that it will shut down on October 26th. According to Yahoo, as of October 26th, GeoCities sites will no longer appear on the web. Yahoo had initially said it would shut GeoCities in April.

Further details on the deal between Yahoo and Microsoft have come out in a filing by Yahoo with the SEC, with Yahoo saying that Microsoft will hire at least 400 Yahoo employees, and potentially another 150 employees to help with the transition, as Microsoft takes over the search engine features of Yahoo's sites.
